Rewrite and refine copy
Fix one paragraph without touching the rest of the email.
In the designer, every text block has a ✨ button. It works on whatever you’ve selected, or the whole block if you’ve selected nothing — which is how you fix one sentence without re-rolling the email.
What it offers
- Shorten — the most used, and usually right.
- Lengthen — when a section is too thin.
- Punchier — tightens flabby writing.
- More casual / more formal — shifts register.
- Fix grammar — corrections only, no rewriting.
- Regenerate — a different take on the same point.
- Regenerate with instructions — say exactly what you want changed.
That last one is the most capable: “keep the first sentence, drop the discount, end with a question” does what it says.
Every rewrite is one undo away
⌘Z restores exactly what you had
A rewrite is its own step in the designer’s history, so one undo brings back your original wording and redo puts the rewrite back. Try things freely.
A refusal never replaces your text
Occasionally a model declines — usually when the copy is far outside what your brand profile describes, like a community newsletter on a coffee roaster’s account.
When that happens you get an error and your text is left exactly as it was. It used to be possible for a refusal to be pasted in as the rewrite, which is precisely as bad as it sounds; that’s now caught.
Penny is also told explicitly that the content in front of her is the subject, and the brand profile only voice context — so an unrelated or half-filled profile shouldn’t veto an edit.
Common issues
It rewrote more than I selected
The selection was probably lost when you opened the menu. Re-select and try again — and remember an empty selection means the whole block.
It keeps producing the same thing
Use Regenerate with instructions and name what’s wrong. Pressing regenerate repeatedly on a short sentence has little room to vary.
It dropped my merge tag
Rewrites are meant to preserve them. If one goes missing, undo and try with an instruction that says to keep it.
It changed a word my brand profile bans
The avoid-words list is enforced exactly in the pre-send review rather than left to the model, so it’ll be caught before you send.

Does it work on the subject line?+
The subject has its own tool — ✨ Suggest gives six alternatives with the angle each takes, rather than one rewrite.
Can I rewrite several blocks at once?+
One block at a time. For a wholesale rewrite, start a new draft from a brief instead.
