Draft an email from a brief
Describe it in a sentence; refine until it's right.
On Campaigns → New campaign, choose Start with AI. Describe the email, pick what it’s for, and Penny writes it — subject line, preheader and a full design.
It's a loop, not a slot machine
Generate, read what came back, adjust the brief, regenerate. The preview is the actual draft — not a summary of one — so what you approve is exactly what gets built.
When it’s close, Draft my email commits it and drops you in the designer. No second generation happens at that point, so nothing drifts between what you read and what you get.
Writing a brief that works
Specifics beat adjectives. “Announce our new Ethiopian single origin, in stock Friday, 20% off for subscribers until Sunday” produces something usable. “Write a marketing email” produces something you’ll throw away.
Worth including:
- What’s happening, concretely
- What you want the reader to do
- Anything time-bound — a date, a deadline
You don’t need to describe your business or your tone — that’s what the brand profile is for, and repeating it in the brief just crowds out the specifics.
The goal picker changes the structure
Announce, promote, nurture, win back, invite — this isn’t a tone setting. A win-back email is shaped differently from an event invitation: different opening, different call to action, different length. Pick the one that matches and the skeleton comes out right.
Regenerating keeps the topic
Asking for “something shorter” refines the draft you have rather than starting over — the previous version goes back with your instruction, so a follow-up reads as a revision.
Say what to change, not what to write
“Cut the second paragraph and make the button say Book now” works better than re-describing the whole email. Small corrections converge; rewrites restart.
Common issues
It reads generically
Fill in the brand profile. This is nearly always the cause — with it empty, Penny knows only your account name.
It invented a detail I didn't give it
It will fill gaps to produce a complete email. Treat a draft as a first pass and check specifics — prices, dates, product names — before sending.
It wrote about the wrong business
A stale brand profile. It’s context, not a filter, so an off-profile brief still works — but a wrong profile actively misleads.
FAQs
Can I use it on an existing campaign?+
The brief flow is for new ones. For an existing draft, use the rewrite tools on individual blocks — that’s how you fix one section without re-rolling the whole email.
Will it use my merge tags?+
Yes, and only ones that exist. Output is checked against your real field names before you see it, since a hallucinated tag renders as a hole in every recipient’s copy.
Does it write the subject line too?+
Yes, plus the preheader, and both come across with the draft. You can then ask for six alternatives from the Subject field.
