How Inbox Penny works, and what to do when it doesn’t

The media library

Your images, hosted permanently so old emails don't break.

Media library holds every image you upload. Drag them into a design, organise them into folders, and reuse them across campaigns.

Uploading

Drag files onto the page or use the button — and you can upload straight from the designer while building. JPEG, PNG and GIF, up to 5MB each.

WebP is accepted but support in email clients is patchy, so JPEG or PNG is the safer choice for anything you send.

Resize before uploading

Emails are around 600px wide. A 4000px photo straight off a camera makes a heavy email that’s slow on mobile data — and Gmail clips emails that get too large.

Images are permanent, on purpose

An email you sent last year still points at its images from recipients’ inboxes. So an image URL has to keep working forever — which shapes two behaviours that otherwise look odd:

  • There’s no “replace this image”. Upload a new one and use it in future campaigns. Swapping the file behind an existing URL would change every email already delivered.
  • Deleting removes it from your library, not from sent mail. Old emails keep rendering.

Folders

One level of folders, and moving something between them never changes its URL — folders are labels, not locations. Renaming or deleting a folder doesn’t touch the images; deleting one just moves its contents back to uncategorised.

Images that arrive with a migrated email land in their own folder automatically.

Common issues

Upload rejected

Over 5MB, or a format that isn’t JPEG, PNG, GIF or WebP. Resizing usually fixes both — and produces a better email anyway.

Images don't show in the inbox

Most clients block images until the reader allows them. That’s why alt text matters, and why an email that’s entirely one image is a bad idea — with images off it says nothing at all.

I need to update a logo everywhere

Upload the new one and use it going forward. Emails already sent will always show the old one; that’s inherent to email, not a limitation here.

FAQs

Is there a storage limit?+

No practical limit, and storage costs nothing — you pay for email sent, not for what you keep.

Can I link to images hosted elsewhere?+

You can, but don’t. If that host goes away or blocks hotlinking, your delivered emails break. Uploading here is what makes a campaign self-contained.

Are my images public?+

They’re served from unguessable URLs, which is what lets email clients load them without a login. Treat them as public — don’t upload anything confidential.
