Schedule a campaign
Send later — and what's re-checked when it fires.
In the send panel, choose a date and time instead of sending now. The campaign sits scheduled until then, and you can change or cancel it any time before it fires.
Time zones and timing
You pick a time in your own browser’s time zone, and that’s what happens — there’s no conversion for you to get wrong.
Sends start within a few minutes of the time you chose rather than to the second, and a large campaign then takes a while to work through. Schedule for slightly before you want people reading, not exactly on it.
When to send
Insights works out when your audience actually engages, which beats generic advice about Tuesday mornings.
Everything is re-checked when it fires
Scheduling isn’t a promise to send. At the moment it fires we check the same things as an immediate send:
- Enough credit, at that moment.
- Your sending address still verified.
- The content still approved — an edit after approval resets it.
- A postal address in the footer.
- Your daily sending limit.
If something fails, the campaign is held rather than part-sent, and nothing is charged. That’s deliberate: scheduling must not let anyone bank an approval and sail past a check that would now fail.
The audience is worked out at send time
Recipients are resolved when the campaign fires, not when you schedule it. So anyone who joins a targeted list in between does receive it, and anyone who unsubscribes doesn’t.
That’s almost always what you want — and it’s worth knowing if you schedule a week out and run a signup push in between.
Changing or cancelling
Unschedule at any point before it fires and it returns to a draft. You can edit and reschedule freely — though a substantial edit means the content is checked again.
Once sending has started it can’t be recalled. Email that has left is gone, which is what the test send and the pre-send review are for.
Common issues
It didn't send at the scheduled time
Check the campaign’s status. Held usually means credit, the sending address, or an edit made after approval.
I can't pick a time
It has to be at least a minute in the future, and the campaign needs everything a send needs — subject, content, and at least one list or segment.
Slightly more people got it than the estimate
People joined a targeted list between scheduling and sending. The audience is resolved at fire time.
FAQs
How far ahead can I schedule?+
As far as you like. Remember the checks happen at fire time, so a campaign scheduled months out can still be held if something changes.
Can I schedule per recipient's local time?+
Not for a campaign. Inside an automation, a Wait until step gets closer — though it uses your account’s time zone rather than each recipient’s.
